Transition relationships

There was time today for one of us to visit the schools to have a quick catch up with the Deputy Principals at each of our two partner schools, Mangere Bridge Primary and Waterlea Primary. We consider keeping in touch extremely important and work hard to arrange time to meet the new teachers, take their photos to add to our transition board and plan some meeting time and events during the term.

Our transition research clearly showed the importance of getting together to talk about teaching and learning in both settings - providing continuity and connections for children and families.
Thanks to both schools this is high on their priorities as the new term begins. We look forward to visiting both with the children and catching up with ex-kindergarten children in the junior school.

We are looking at further research projects to explore effective transitions for our children and families.
