We have a child who has completed several sewing projects over the past months and we wanted to extend this learning further so as we have been given lots of felt and had some hessian in the shed we decided to start a cushion project.
The children cut out their felt shape and the sewed it to the hessian using a sort of blanket stitch ready for the next stage which will be to get the sewing machine out and make the pillow shape.
Their was lots of interest from boys and girls and now we have several pillow tops ready to be sewn by machine.
We are "Re-using and Re-cycling" material - all good sustainable behaviours for a sustainable community.
