Kindergarten at the Farm - Planting trees

First thing in the morning at the farm is a great time to check out the weather for the day. We raise our hands and eyes to see how Ranginui is and then our hands on the ground to feel Papatuanuku.

Jen and Garry needed our help so after we had done our job feeding the chickens we walked back up the paddocks - but this time stopped half way to help plant trees. First Jen showed us what to do and Garry gave us a safety lesson then it was over the fence and on with the job.

This was just the kind of work we like to involve the children in - it links especially well to the Enviroschools principles. We all enjoyed it hugely and the children were talking about it all day when we got back to kindergarten.
