Cameron's Birthday at Ambury Farm

When we heard it was Cameron's birthday on the 1st of August (all horses have their birthday on the 1st of August and Cameron is a horse, of course)we were delighted to be invited to celebrate with Cameron. He had two miniature horses there as well and all of us from the morning session at kindergarten. We CAN walk- it's not very far - but we were very worried about the weather cos it's been raining every day and we wanted to go whatever the weather so we booked Martin's bus. After a farewell to one of the children, who is moving to Waiheke, we jumped on the bus and we were off to the farm. Janine and Tessa, the Rangers were waiting for us and so was Cameron in the shearing pens. He is a big big horse, a Clydesdale in fact, and was 23 this birthday. On monday we had baked horse cookies for Cameron with yummy apple, carrots and molasses Each child had a cookie for Cameron and he seemed to really like them. The miniature horses did too!!
We played party games, pass the parcel, bobbing for apples and pin the tail on the horse ( a picture of Cameron). We had party food, just right for a horse party - apples, grapes, melon and carrots and then Tess brought out the horse birthday cake and Janine lit the candles. We sang Happy Birthday and then had cake but Cameron was NOT impressed with icing on his carrot cake, he curled his lip and shook his head. Perhaps he preferred the horse cookies? We gave Cameron his present, a big yellow bucket filled with horse treats and then it was time to come back to kindergaren after a very very successful day. Thanks to Janine and Tess and all the helpers we had a fantastic morning and the weather even held fine too.
