We have contributed a chapter to a new book - the book that is a result of the Teaching and Learning Initiative (TLRi) 2013 - 2015. The book is edited by our research associates Val Podmore, Helen Hedges, Peter Keegan and Nola Harvey. The book is about young children who learn through more than one language in Aotearoa New Zealand. A central theme of the book is that early childhood educators can foster and validate the multiple languages children and their families bring, through thoughtful planning, pedagogy and practice.
The four centres involved in the research were us, Te Puna Kohungahunga, The A'oga Fa'a Samoa, and University of Auckland Symonds St Childcare centre. We are chapter 7.
It is very exciting to see our work in print again.
The book is available through NZCER Press on their website.
