A term flies by

Since we won the Prime Minister's Takatu prize it has been SO busy and consequently our blog has been neglected. Our apologies to our regular readers.
We are on the latest round of AKA Incredible Years training and so have a workshop each every 3 weeks. We have presented our work in Christchurch, Whanganui, Henderson, and Whenuapai, worked on the completion of our chapter for the book on the TLRi research and have been putting in time to get Storypark up and running for our families.
Storypark is an e-portfolio platform. It is a great medium for us to communicate with families and we are really enjoying the feedback that comes in - sometimes almost instantly.
We really believe that this is  another tool in our assessment and communication strategies and NOT a replacement for paper portfolios which the children have access to and access everyday. We see children sitting together pouring over their portfolios and reliving experiences, with their friends and with adults in the kindergarten. Instant access for them is irreplaceable. So for us e-portfolios and paper portfolios are not an either or situation but one where both have equal value.
