Exciting events

Hi all, well what a week. It began for us this week on Sunday, when we all manned and womanned the stall at the big commnunity event for us- Ambury Farm Day. It is a good fundraiser for us and a fun day for all as we frantically barbecue sausages, sell lollies and drinks and our raffle too. Our thanks to all who helped and especially to Stefan who ably cooked up a storm all day - against a fairly dynamic storm raging outside the tent. We were lucky to find our marquee on Sunday morning in the same place it had been set up the night before. Thanks too to all who supported the stall. We couldn't do it without community support. Next sausage sizzle will be the Santa parade evening, the first Thursday in December at the Mangere Bridge Village. All week we have been fighting the wind as we landscaped around our new Centre of Innovation room with our special Mangere Bridge volcanic rock!! We have had some avid helpers amongst the children who enjoy purposeful experiences.AND today off we went in a special bus- brand new - driven by the Dad of one of our children. It had seatbelts, several TV's, a toilet and fridge WOW. Then off to the train at Otahuhu and into Britomart. The walk up Queen St is a highlight, so Many road works. And finally to the Skytower. What fun to watch people jumping and hanging right in front of us before they drop out of sight. There is always so much to see, so many different experiences and insights when we do this trip to the city. A lot of us can see the Skytower from home and this is a unique experience to be able to go by bus ( this time a very special bus and driver) and train and then walk in the city. We can see all sorts of things happening that we may not usually experience. It will be interesting next week to hear some of the children's perspectives when we view the video and slideshow footage. It is always a fairly big group and a tiring day and the teachers had to retire to Rachel's Bridge Cafe for the best chocolate brownie around.Have a restful long weekend - till next week when we will have attended the Centre of Innovation Hui and will be busy preparing for a busload of teachers on the Feast of Inspiration next Saturday.
